Nikon International Small World Competition

The Nikon Small World Competition started in 1975 as a way to recognize photographers. Applicants for the competition must be above 18 years of age. Employees and family members of Nikon staff are exempted from participating in the competition. Former first of the contest are automatically disqualified from winning first place.

Applicants are required to Upload their works (Maximum file size should not exceed 100MB, and it is recommended the file size be no smaller than 3MB in jpeg, png, psd, or tiff format). Note that image that has won any other photomicrography competition is not eligible. The use of Nikon equipment is not required.

The Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest

Another popular photography scholarship is the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest. The contest was founded on December 22, 2014, and named after Andrei Stenin, Rossiya Segodnya special photojournalist who was killed in the line of duty in southeastern Ukraine. The competition is open to contestants between the age of 18 to 33 and served as a platform for discovering new photojournalists and for allowing them to make a name for themselves on the world photojournalism stage.

The contest is open to Russian and international photographers between the age of 18 to 33. There is no application fee to participate. Contestants are required to submit up to three images in each category. The pictures submitted must be in a JPG format with a 2200 to 5700 pixels dimension.

The grand prize winner of this contest will receive 700000 Russian Ruble. In each category, there will be three winners as first, second, and third place winners.  Transparency and Accountability Initiative (TAI) Photo Competition

Professional and amateur photographers can take advantage of the Transparency and Accountability Initiative (TAI). The whole essence of the organization is to strengthen accountability and transparency around the world.

Works submitted for the scholarship should deal with a theme relating transparency and accountability of the government and corporate sectors. Contestant for the competition must be up to 18 years from any country.  Contestants are required to submit a minimum of 3 pictures and a maximum of 8 pictures that relates to the theme of the contest.

Images submitted must be in a JPEG/JPG format with high-quality and resolution. The file size should be a maximum of 3MB but not less than 1MB.

The winner will receive a working grand of total $8000 and the opportunity to carry a photographic project to produce about 30 photographs.

HIPA Photography Competition, Dubai

Photographers who want to receive international recognition can apply for the Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA). The photography comprises of three different categories that deals three themes, namely – Portfolio, General, and Mobile photography. Participants can submit their captions regarding their choices.

ZEISS Photography Award

The theme of the ZEISS Photography Award 2020 is ‘Seeing Beyond-Discoveries’. This contest is open to all nationalities around the world. Entrants have to submit their captions with a brief in detail that outlines the story behind the photoshoot.

Applicants must be 18 or more to participate in the contest and will have to submit a minimum of 5 pictures and a maximum of 10. Images size should be minimum 1MB to maximum 5MB, and the standard format is JPEG. Photos should maintain an sRGB colour model. Also, it should have EXIF data in the image file.

Winner of this contest will receive ZEISS camera lenses that worth $12000. Besides this, he/she will get $3000 as a travel cost for taking part in a photo project.

Film Scholarships

The Film Grant Scholarships is sponsored by the Princess Grace Foundation USA and is available to US undergraduate and graduate-level students. Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships

the scholarship was created to support the minority and economically disadvantaged students in the field of art and design (architecture inclusive) at universities in the United States. The awards aim to help people and also increase diversity in the creative profession.

The scholarships award $2,000/$3,000 to the recipient. The award is sent directly to the recipient’s school and applied toward tuition and cannot be used for any other purpose.

Applicants for the scholarship must be citizens of the United States in an undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the following disciplines – Graphic Design, Illustration, and Photography.

High school students can apply for the National Geographic Student Photo Contest. High schoolers can submit an image that “conveys what exploration and adventure means to them.” All photographs are submitted alongside a written description of the photo and how it reflects a sense of exploration or adventure.
